ONCE again the people of Tenterfield and visitors will have the opportunity to experience Bavarian culture with the hosting of the seventh biennial Bavarian Music Festival and Beerfest.
Thirty members of the original Bavarian brass band who have travelled more than 30,000 kilometres from their homes in the Allgau Region of Bavaria, Germany, will be the stars of the festival.
They will be hosted by local Tenterfield families during their stay.
Highlights of their visit will be a civic welcome and recital in Bruxner Park, and two concerts at Tenterfield High School for students from district schools.
A concert will also be held at the Tenterfield School of Arts.
The main event will be the Bavarian Beerfest at Soldiers’ Memorial Hall on Saturday, March 2.
The Beerfest will feature a selection of German beers, German sausages, and of course the famous sauerkraut.
Accompanied by music from the big brass band, the food will add to the fun and frivolity of the festive atmosphere on the day.
It is believed that Tenterfield is the only town in Australia to host a band from Germany on a biennial basis. The event attracts many visitors and travellers to Tenterfield.
The event is being hosted by the Tenterfield Rotary Club in association with the Shire Council’s Town Partnership Committee.
Bookings can be made at Tenterfield Insurance Agencies in Rouse Street or on (02) 6736 2426.
