Alberts Schloss – Prost!

As a total Germanophile you can imagine how excited I was to hear that a Bavarian-themed ‘Bohemian Pleasure Palace’ was opening in Manchester and there was no way I was going to miss out on their much-hyped launch party!

Alberts Schloss is set on the ground floor of the Albert Hall and the beautiful interior with its Alpine-style benches and open fires combined with the smell of roasting food and tankards of beer made me feel so nostalgic for the year I spent living in Bavaria.

As well as German favourites such as Bratwurst, Sauerkraut and Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), the Schloss is most famous for its huge selection of imported beers and Czech Urquell served from copper barrels. But even if Pilsner isn’t your thing, there’s also a great choice of wine, cocktails and authentic schnapps made on the premises. I can highly recommend the Apple Strudel cocktail with a freshly-baked pretzel on a cold autumn evening!

Alberts Schloss might just be my new favourite place in Manchester and I can’t wait to go back for more!
