Just seven short days after the semi-finals brought Circle to a standstill, the final of Bavaria Big in Ghana did precisely the same except with an even larger audience. Fans travelled from in and around Accra and beyond to support their favourite act at Freedom and Justice Park (Obra’s Spot) and help propel them toward the prize. The previous week’s feedback from Brand Ambassadors, FOKN Bois and Yaa Pono to let their music ‘do the talking’ instead of over dramatic stage work had been taken on board by the finalists with significantly more musical performances on the night from Naa Bee, 7Thirty, Bullet and Tom Tom.
VIP invited guests present on the night included His Excellency, the Dutch High Commissioner, Hans Docter, Joy FM’s DJ Black, International DJ Rita Ray and representatives from the Dutch Embassy, Printex, PWC, Tonaton and of course Kasapreko; who all thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Despite strong competition from his co-finalists, Tom Tom, Bullet and Naa Bee, it was fourteen year old school prefect, 7Thirty who triumphed on the night by securing the loudest and most representative “noise-o-meter” cheers from all sections of the crowd. He demonstrated true progression from the previous week by engaging the crowd in his performance and of course his melodic rapping. 7Thirty, the 2013 Bavaria Big in Ghana winner wins 3,000GHS, an EP produced by FOKN Bois, a professional video to help launch his career and promotional assistance.
With passions running high from the start, the party atmosphere was unfortunately brought to an abrupt and disappointing end by sections of the crowd affiliated to finalist Bullet who began launching bottles at the stage upon hearing that he did not win. Organisers are keen to point out that the overwhelming majority of fans were well behaved and enjoyed live performances from last year’s winner Bryte Micnificent, the irrepressible FOKN Bois, Yaa Pono, Afro Harmony and Efya.
Bavaria will soon be giving away more amazing prizes such as a Samsung Galaxy S3 Pocket, a Panasonic Flatscreen TV, a Samsung Galaxy tablet, Samsung Headphones and a wristwatch exclusively to listeners of Live 91.9 FM.
